Dana De Ano is a visual artist who projects beauty into the world, one piece at a time.  Her hope is that her work provokes a tenderness, giving pause and sparking wonder in her viewers.  She sees her work as abstracted landscapes.

“There are many pieces I would love to inhabit -- crawling into and floating away in the landscapes.  I see the work as conversations among broken things, mirroring life itself.  Through my work, I like to break the rules and play with the materials as fairly or unfairly as I choose,” said De Ano.  Words that have been used often to describe her work are raw, immediate, edgy, elegant, and generous.  Words that she uses to describe her practice are dedicated, integrity, and responsible.

Dana works closely with many interior designers, art consultants and private clients.  She is available for studio visits, and welcomes the creative exchange of ideas with commissions.  She is currently working on a very large-scale commission for a commercial space on the west coast.

De Ano is a self-represented, and lives and works in Chicago (Evanston).  She earned a BA from De Paul University and a MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Painting and Drawing.  She has shown nationally and placed work internationally.  De Ano has been profiled in numerous national publications including Elle Décor, Dwell, Domino and Modern Luxe Interiors.  She has been awarded numerous residencies including Ragdale and Grand Marias Art Center and has given many public lectures.

Her CV in its entirety is available upon request. Aside from dedicating most of her time to her practice, she also enjoys, swimming, gardening, raising her two teenage daughters and rolling around with her dog.
